Time to get back to work!!
Well, now that Chicago is behind us and the trip is all but a memory it's time to get back to work.  Leaving Chicago with a record of 1-1-3 is pretty fantastic accomplishment considering we were battling a little bit of illness and some fatigue!  Never the less it was a great trip the girls will remember for a long time I hope!!

After our loooong trip home and a week of rest we were back at it for a Saturday afternoon match up with the Twin Centre Hericanes in St. Clements.  Your Panthers started the game the right way with the energy and pace that we as coaches expect.  The Hericanes gave us our best test to date with some pretty furious forechecking and solid defence of their own!  Thanks to the goaltending of Hunter and the absolute mastery of our power play capped off by Rachel Baxter's net presence, we were able to walk away from Saturday with the two points in our pocket!

Sunday afternoon saw your Panthers travel east again to the friendly confines of RIM park and the Manulife Sports Centre for a late afternoon tilt against the Waterloo Ravens.  Sunday would be Carlie's game to start and she was up to the challenge early.  We're not sure if it was the drive, the size of the ice or just one lack luster period but without Carlie playing the way she can it could have been ugly early.  Our Panthers started the game in complete contrast to to the game only a day before.   At the intermission a coach may have been overheard saying "Wow, that sucked!"  We finished the period down 1-0.  The second and third period saw much better play from the Panthers including goals from Baxter, Melissa Gerrits and Meredith Fisher.  We were able to walk away from RIM park with two more points in the bank.

All in all a great weekend from your Panthers earning 4 of 4 points and scoring on the power play for the first time this season.

This week will see us play our second home game of the season, our first at the cosy St. Thomas Elgin Memorial Arena.  We will be hosting the Wilmot Wolverines who have started the season a little shakey but no doubt will be a very tough determined opponent for the Panthers.

Weekend Notes:
Goals - Baxter 2, Gerrits 1, Fisher 1
Assists - Kayla Smith, Haley Dunbar, Jaylin Wismer

I have posted a gallery of photos from Chicago and would like to add to it.  If you have some photos you would like to see on our site please send the jpegs directly to me and I will add the photo to our galleries!

Until next time....Nobody gets left behind or forgotten!
