Bantam C, 2017-2018 (St. Thomas Panthers)

Well having to make a few adjustments to the schedule this week after being bumped by the Jr B team we found ourselves like a lot of things, down the Thames river.

The great thing about coaching is seeing the improvement in the girls and the smiles when they can see it in themselves. It's a lot easier to see when you go on a streak like we just had of 10 in a row of being undefeated. 7 wins and 3 ties. I figured that doesn't tell the whole story so I'll throw some more stats into it.

Well it seems to be a habit lately of a close game and well played by the girls going into third periods, this game was no different. We found ourselves short handed, which also is nothing new to the girls this season but we have limited the chances and even put pressure on going the other way. Tonight was one of those pressure nights. 

In our first playdown game the girls came out of the gate a little slow. We have played a lot of hockey in the past three weeks but luckily Emma Carr stayed strong between the pipes, keeping Lucan to just a two goal lead going into the third period. We got our legs back and on a shot from the point, Alyssa Rioux scored her first goal of the season. That goal lifted the girls spirits allowing us to jump back into the game. Emmy Jones added a goal to tie it up at 2 bringing our undefeated streak to 8 games. Well done girls, lets keep it rolling. 

A determined win in our first playoff game tonight against the higher ranked Lucan team. The girls played a great defensive game, limiting the shots and chances. Reece Coleman scored in the second period with a good old wrap around, fooling the goalie who thought she was coming out the other side with the puck. I am very proud of all the girls. This win tonight also takes our unbeaten streak to 7 games. Keep up the hard work girls.
