U9 Development and Evaluation Information
Welcome to an exciting new season with the St. Thomas Panthers! We’re thrilled to welcome back our returning Panthers and to welcome new players to STPGHA!

Please follow this page closely for all important updates throughout the Development and Evaluation period. Below is everything you need to know to get started:

Requirements Before the First Skate:  In order for your player to skate, the following items must be completed:

  • Register & Pay for U9 Development & Evaluation Skates - Use your existing RAMP login—do not create a new account.
  • Complete/Update PRIVIT - PRIVIT is our health and safety data management system. All Panther players must have an up-to-date PRIVIT profile before their first skate. When asked to assign your player to a team, select U9 Development & Evaluation.
  • Permission to Tryout Form (if applicable) - If your player did not play with St. Thomas Panthers GHA last season but played for another OWHA association, you must bring a valid Permission to Tryout (PTT) form from your home association. PTTs are not required for players from non-OWHA associations (OMHA, Alliance, etc.) or first-time players. Hard copy required at the first skate.

⚠️ Reminder: All players must be in full hockey equipment When you and your player arrive at the arena, please check-in at Panther desk in the main lobby.

Friday, September 5 @6:00 PM– Joe Thornton CC (STMHA)

Saturday, September 6 @ 1:00 PM – Memorial Arena

Sunday, September 7 @ 3:30 PM – Joe Thornton CC (STMHA)

We are excited to partner with LVLUP, who will lead all 4 development sessions, focusing on skating and basic skills. These skates are designed to get players moving and comfortable on the ice in a relaxed, non-competitive environment. No evaluations will take place during this phase.
Evaluation Skates

Monday, September 8 @ 4:45 PM & 6:45 PM – Memorial Arena

Tuesday, September 9 @ 5:45 PM & 6:45 PM – Joe Thornton CC (Presstran)

Thursday, September 11 @ 6:45 PM & 7:45 PM – Joe Thornton CC (Presstran)

During evaluations, players will be divided into two groups, with 2 different ice times. It is important to check back here before the first evaluation skate on September 8 to confirm your players ice time. For  the first evaluation skate, players will be grouped alphabetically.
Please continue to check back after each evaluation skate for updated group assignments, as players will grouped based on skill, as recommended by evaluators.
πŸ“ŒAfter the final evaluation skate, final team rosters will be posted on this page. Once rosters are finalized, all communications will move to the individual team pages. At that time, players will need to be registered to their assigned team on RAMP and the season fee will be due. If payment plans needs to arranged, please reach out to [email protected]

We understand - it’s a busy time for families. Development skates are optional, but we do encourage players to attend. We ask that you let us know if they won’t be attending by emailing [email protected]
Team Volunteers Wanted

Head coaches for U9 teams are still being determined. We welcome parents who are interested in getting involved, both on and off the ice. Roles include:

-Assistant Coach

-Trainer

-Den Mom

-Team Manager

Interested parents will work with the head coach of their players team to determine the teams volunteering needs.

πŸ”Ž Please note: All roles except Team Manager require a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) through the OHF online portal. Since processing can take time, we strongly encourage you to start early. Visit our VSC page for step-by-step instructions.

STPGHA has a Volunteer Bond System in place. Each family is required to complete volunteer hours with their team and/or the association. A minimum of 10 hours for U9 - U18 is required for the first player and 5 hours for each additional player in the same family. There are many ways these volunteer hours can be completed. A copy of the policy can be found here.

We’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions about the U9 Development & Evaluation process, please reach out to [email protected] If you have any questions regarding registration or completing your VSC please reach out to [email protected]
