The Panthers are excited to announce the return of Spring tryouts and the following coaching appointments for our U13A/BB, U15A/BB and U18A/BB programs for the 2022/23 season.
U13A/BB - Mark Holmes
Mark Holmes has coached in the St. Thomas Panthers organization for the last three years. Prior to that he coached in the Aylmer Flames organization and presently sits on the board of directors for the AMHA. He brings with him a wealth of hockey experience through coaching, training, volunteering and playing hockey over the past 35 years. Mark has been involved with the Elgin Middlesex Chiefs, the Aylmer Aces Jr. B hockey club, the Aylmer Spitfires Jr. C hockey club, and has assisted with training programs for Power Edge Pro. He is passionate about growing the game of hockey with our young female hockey players. Mark's goals are to help our young athletes with individual skating and skill development, in addition to improving their team skills. Mark believes in building success by instilling a passion for the sport, expecting a high level or work ethic, and building good team cohesion. He is excited for the 2022-2023 season.
U15A/BB - Kurt Watson & Mark Payne
Kurt Watson has been part of the Panthers organization for the past eight years. He has had many roles within the organization, coaching at the Cubs (Fundamentals), U9, U11 and U13 levels; winning both a League and Provincial championship. Kurt has also been an active member of the board for the past five years. Beyond the Panthers, Kurt has coached high school hockey for more than ten years, winning a WOSSA bronze medal; as well as coaching in the WLMHA. Kurt’s ability to communicate and his hockey knowledge are what helps to make him a successful coach. He is looking forward to challenging himself, the other coaching staff and the players to grow into a successful and cohesive team.
Mark Payne has been with the St. Thomas Panthers Organization for many years in both head coaching and assistant coaching roles. While in those positions, Mark saw the success of the girls in league play and tournaments; achieving league, playoff, and provincial championships. For the 2022-2023 season, Mark looks to build a team of dedicated and determined young girls, working on confidence and character. He strives to create a team that loves coming to the rink and loves being around each other on and off the ice. It’s important to Mark to teach the players to support and play for each other in any situation, to help build friendships that will last a lifetime.
U18A/BB - Mike Brown & Katerina Jackson
Mike Brown has coached minor hockey for 6 years. He brings passion and energy to each and every ice time he is on the ice with the players and always has an expectation to be the hardest working team on the ice, win or lose. He likes to offer dryland, extra development and team bonding events. Mike likes to focus practices around high tempo and work ethic, and push to get the highest level of competition and battle out of all the players.
Katerina Jackson is CEO of REPS Sports & Fitness Training. Katerina has 20+ years of hockey experience, 7 years training alongside Patrick Kane, under tutelage of Darryl Belfry (Toronto Maple Leafs Team Development Coach). She has also trained for several years at NHL Head Coach Bruce Boudreau Hockey School and is currently running Sports Performance Training Programs at Bruce Boudreau’s Hockey School.
Katerina Played Midget AA Mississauga Chiefs coached by Dick DeCleo (Memorial Cup Winner & Winter Olympian) and Played Jr. AA with Assistant Coach Olympian Becky Keller. Katerina has worked with other notable coaches; such as Murray Nystrom Head Coach of Brock University Men's Hockey and Ben Boudreau Head Coach for ECHL Fort Wayne Komets. As a lifelong hockey player, sports nutrition expert and certified personal trainer, Katerina is particularly skilled at developing sports performance programs for athletes.

In addition, U11 and U9 coaching applications will be reopened and coaches will be named at a later date with tryouts happening in September.
