Things You Need To Know About the Organization
Submitted By Dave Humphreys on Monday, March 5, 2018
As we begin to plan for next week, next month and next year, there are a few things we would like to bring to your attention.

1) St. Thomas Panthers are accepting coaching applications for our 2018-19 teams. To express your interest, please complete the application via this link. All Coaches will be required to supply a Police Records Check. We would like to thank everyone for their interest, however submission of an application does not guarantee an interview.

2) To continually improve, our coaches and our board need your feedback.  The more feedback we
receive regarding a coaching staff, the more accurately we can plan coaching development and choose the best leader for your daughter's team. Please take a few minutes to fill out evaluations for your head coach as well as assistants.  You can access this via this link.

3) With registration and "evaluation" season coming quickly, now is the time to have conversations with your daughters. With playoffs and play downs, February and March are the "Dog Days" of hockey.  Some players thrive on the intense schedules, others begin to lose interest. This is not just something I have observed over the years, but feedback I am hearing from coaches.  In an attempt to make sure all of our players will try-out for a team that THEY will enjoy and thrive on, now is the time to have these sometimes difficult conversations with your daughter. While things like effort and being a good teammate are non-negotiable at all levels, in my thinking, expectations and time commitment do differ based on level. Some of our players play for social reasons, some are wired to play hockey 24-7, and some use hockey as a winter sport, while their true love is another sport which will always take priority over hockey.  All of these are Ok. The Panthers want all of these players participating and enjoying their experience.  Please consider your daughter's goals and also the goals of their prospective coaches and teammates at all levels as you choose the level suited for her. A player who is excited to go to the rink is a win at every level.  One that we are "dragging" to the team's extra shooting or skating sessions will not be happy in the long run and we will lose them.  The thought of this is devastating.
4). Please also watch for our Annual General Meeting announcement.  For the Panthers to move forward as an organization, we need your input.  We also need volunteers to help within the organization. This does not mean that you have to commit to being on the board. There are lots of opportunities requiring smaller amounts of time. If you have time that you would like to use to make a difference in our daughter's lives, please contact any board member.
