Twas the Night Before Christmas
U15B Girls Hockey Team Edition

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the rink,

Not a player was skating, not even a blink.

The jerseys were hung in the lockers with care,

In hopes that more victories soon would be there.

The Carranzas were dreaming of slapshots so fine,

While Clark practiced moves to leave rivals behind.

Cochrane was nestled, her stick taped just right,

While Fish visualized her next breakaway fight.

Jacques dreamed of passing, so crisp and so clean,

While Jansen’s quick skating inspired the team.

Riley and Ross, ever steady and strong,

Knew their next big goal wouldn’t take long.

Ruddock and Spicer, swift on their blades,

Had visions of trophies their teamwork had made.

Thibert and Thomson, defenders with might,

Kept their blue line secure through every last fight.

In net stood McMahon, as calm as could be,

Stopping pucks with her glove, her pads, and her knee.

She guarded the crease with confidence rare,

A true game-changer for the team everywhere.

Vermeer’s determination shone bright in her play,

While Willemse’s grit led the team every day.

No one wore the "C," for their bond was their guide—

Every player a leader, with teammates beside.

When out on the ice, there arose such a clatter,

They sprang from their dreams to see what was the matter.

Away to the boards, they flew in a dash,

To find their coach holding a puck and a stash.

"On passes! On skating! On goals and on blocks!

On teamwork and hustle, with no mental shocks!

To the blue line! The crease! To the top of the zone!

You’ve trained for this moment—now make it your own!"

So they laced up their skates, hearts full of cheer,

For the love of the game brought them back every year.

And as they skated, they shouted with might,

“Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
