Achieving as a Team in Ancaster
This weekend saw this group take another step towards becoming the team we are capable of being and along the way we picked up some hardware!
Friday began with a hard-fought win over a strong Lakeshore team. Throughout this game the Panthers displayed resilience and determination as they fought back from a 1-0 and 2-1 deficits, to win 3-2.
Our second game again saw the Panthers rally from behind to win 5-3 vs. a very determined Burlington team. With many valuable lessons learned, we packed it in for the day and headed home.
On Saturday, game three provided drama in the way of a 2-1 shootout win. More importantly, we saw the team work hard to manufacture chances and play a complete game.
Our team goals for any tournament are to make it to Championship Sunday and play maximum games. On the strength of finishing 1st in our pool, we made it to Sunday and a semi final game vs. the North Halton Twisters. After a slow start, we found our groove and punched our ticket into the finals.
The gold medal game lived up to expectations, with both teams battling for every inch of ice. Again the words resilience and determination come to mind. Having lost one of our team to injury in the semifinal, the team gutted out a hard-fought 1-0 win against a tough London Devilettes team.
Looking back over the weekend, every single one of our players contributed when needed and made a difference. It was about doing their job and trusting that the players around them would do the same. We battled together and achieved together. The concept of TEAM FIRST was stamped all over this weekend.
