Tryout update
Tryouts are once again upon us and this is a tough time of year. Over the next few weeks we will be selecting the 2016-17 Panthers Midget A Team. We are excited for the opportunity to work with you and help you through this difficult time.

Before you arrive at the rink take time to review this message as it will help you to be successful in our tryouts!!

First off, We are a NON PARENT coaching staff so this allows us the opportunity to assemble the strongest group of girls regardless of any relationships. For most of you this may be the first time that your coaches are not one of your teammates moms or dads.

WHAT DO NON PARENT COACHES MEAN TO YOU? This means that you will all have an equal opportunity to show us that you have the skillset, talent and work ethic that we will be looking to sign for our team this year.

What do we want to see before every skate?
Get to the rink early, go for a warm up run, stretch and mentally prepare for the skate. We will not be wasting much ice time to stretch so be ready to go once you hit the ice.

What are we looking for?
Our Team systems are based around a strong offensive puck attack so you need to demonstrate to us your ability to read the play and attack in the offensive zone.

We will be patient in the neutral zone so understanding the neutral zone regroup is necessary.

In the defensive end you will be strong on the puck, aggressive in the corners and you will be able to identify possible scoring lanes and eliminate them from the opposition.

If your previous coaches have not challenged you with these hockey basics YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY!! What we will be looking for from you is a dedicated work ethic and the ability to learn. Listen and adapt to what you are being taught on the ice BUT most importantly work hard in every drill. Pay attention and focus on every drill.

We are a puck control Team. We work hard to get the puck so once we get it we will not give it up.

Individual effort can be rewarded as long as it is not at the expense of the Team.

We look forward to seeing you at the rink in the next few weeks. Keep your eyes on the prize and your stick on the ice!!
