Novice C Panthers Rock the East
The Novice team played a hard fought 5 games this weekend in Cobourg. The tiny team from St.T didn't dissappoint representing the West losing in the semi-final to a very good Kanata B team that hasn't lost a game this year.

The girls came out flying in their first game rolling to a 2-1 win over Brockville with the Maddie Pinnegar, Mia Smith and Audrey Ferguson line scoring both goals.
The second game they were in tough against a solid B team from Belleville. They were winning the entire game until a Bellevile player went end to end and scored backhand top-shelf to tie the game at 2-2 with 51 seconds left.
Game 3 they were thrown into battle against Peterborough B's and outplayed this team for most of the game. The Tori Van Slyke, Tessa Pellerine, Allie Tales  line  put the team up 1-0  with Tessa potting  a nice little rebound goal from Tori's shot. With the game tied 1-1, our little beauties kept crashing the net with bodies and netted a nice little mucker goal, but the ref(who was standing up by the red line)disallowed it claiming he blew it dead before it crossed the line. This one point instead of two, forced us to third place out of six teams, and play an elimination game later that afternoon.
With a do or die situation staring them in the face, the girls came out and dominated Brockville to a 5-0 victory that had everyone wondering who this little C team was and maybe they shouldn't be underestimated anymore. The "pound for pound, best D in town" 3'4" tandem of Georgia MacInnis and Anna Muscat combined with the other bruising twosome of Rylan Watson and Makaylah Eldred stymied this team all day on defence and kept the shot count to a minimum.
This set up a semi-final against the Kanata Rangers B. We knew we were going to be in tough against this team as they hadn't had a goal scored on them in their first three games and were undefeated on their season. Our girls played as well as expected and came up short in a 7-0 loss. Our goalie Rachel Annett stood on her head for most of the game and stopped a couple shots heading top cheese that she certainly wasn't used to seeing from Novice girls. This Kanata team won the final beating the Cambridge A team 7-1 in the last game.
The coaching staff are very proud of these girls to see how far they've come this season. The last few games of our season are upon us and our team has now proven they can beat anybody.
