Peewee's Will Not Be Denied
The Peewee Panthers LL team came out on top in an afternoon tilt with the Kent County Fillies taking their record to a perfect 8-0 on the year.  This rag tag group of rookies and veterans have gelled into a squad that no one wants to play.  Led by Coach Crossett, an early favorite for coach of the year, the Panthers exude a certain confidence each time they walk out on the ice.  Right from the drop of the puck the girls took the play to Kent County showed them why they are undefeated.

Power forwards Karen, Raylee, Taylor, Heather, Zoe, and Maddy used a relentless forecheck which forced their opponents into several turnovers.  The defense led by Amy, Julia, Shelby, Audrey and Nicole moved the puck up the ice like a knife through warm butter.  Emily was her usual strong self in net denying the home squad any satisfaction of getting one by her.  Goose and Madison controlled the center of the ice so the juggernaut that is the Peewee Panthers could continue to roll.  It would be difficult for this writer to pick any one reason for the success the squad is having this year other than to say everyone contributes to each of the team wins.  There have been whispers in local arenas that this team could be one of the greatest Panther squads of all time.  Although that may be a bit premature, one cannot question the fact that they come to play each game and they have fun doing it.

Leading the way in the goal scoring dept was Caryn with 2, Zoe, Raylee, Madison and Amy with singles.  Picking up helpers were Audrey, Shelby, Amy, Julia, Madison, Nicole, Heather, Taylor and Zoe.  Coach Crossett said after the game that he has never seen a group of players so dedicated to making each other better.  Have some fun and get it done is something that is often heard on the Panther bench during games.

The Peewees now have over a week until the next game which will allow them to heal some nagging upper body injuries that have been accumulating the last several weeks.

Next up for the Panthers is a game with the Woodstock Wildcats who will be anxious to avenge a recent loss at the hands of the St. Thomas squad.
