Hometown Hockey Wrap-up
Submitted By Dave Humphreys on Monday, November 20, 2017
What a great weekend for hockey in St. Thomas.  Rogers Hometown Hockey brought our community out to celebrate the game we love.

While the weather didn't always cooperate, our spirits were never dampened. The weekend began with a generous donation of $2500.00 from Scotia Bank on the main stage Saturday afternoon.   From there, our float committee headed by Charles Annett and Angela McPhee (along with the families of the Atom C team and the Flying M truck service) decorated and loaded the Panther float with players and cruised down Talbot street.  On the way, they were awarded Best Children's Float. Congratulations!

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the Panthers, lead by the tireless work of Dave Clinton, ran a BBQ along with the STMHA Hockey Mom's.  Thanks to the Bantam As and Midget As for all your help staffing the BBQ and keeping the area tidy.

Finally, as the Rogers Hometown Hockey broadcast wrapped-up, our own Kaitlin Ellery represented our association with confidence and poise as she helped announce the 3 Stars of the Sens/Rangers game.  Thank you Kaitlin. You were a great ambassador for the Panthers.

As I look back at the weekend, I come away energized by a community that came together, by two hockey associations that came together and by the way the Panthers came together to represent our community spirit and show our appreciation to all our community partners.  We are lucky to live in a city that supports our association and the game we love.

Thank you to Rogers Hometown Hockey, Scotia Bank, STMHA and the City of St. Thomas for including us in this great celebration.  The Panthers look forward to working together again soon.
